Glynde to Lewes via Mount Caburn

This was a short, sharp shock of a walk. It was only 3.2 miles long but pretty steep and lots of ups and downs. My first aim was to walk a mountain. OK, so we’re not talking Scafell or Ben Nevis here but Mount Caburn is the provider of some lovely views, even if not technically a real mountain…

Graffham Common

This 5.5 mile round-trip took us around Graffham Common near Petworth in Sussex. The walk was lovely and not particularly hard work – there were not many steep inclines – but I have to say, due to the recent wet weather, it was very muddy and slippery in many places.

Ardingly Reservoir & Ouse Valley Viaduct

Like many of our walks, we chose a day of ceaseless, relentless rain. Not hard enough to put us off completely but enough to offer some kind of water torture to make the trip more of a masochistic jaunt, rather than a carefree frolic. There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing. We took our waterproofs and did not suffer too badly.

Rame Head & St Michael’s Chapel

Nestled on the southeastern coast of Cornwall, England, lies a historical marvel known as Fort Picklecombe. This fort, with a history spanning over 150 years, stands as a testament to Britain’s strategic defense planning during the mid-19th century.

Warninglid and Stonedelf

We drove to the Half Moon pub in Warningly quite early in the morning. There is no carpark in this little country village, so we risked leaving the car outside the pub. There were a few little lay-bys but they were thick with mud and we worried we would get stuck.
